## **GETTING TO DEAUVILLE-TROUVILLE**
By train, direct services leave **Paris Saint-Lazare** for Trouville-Deauville station several times a day and take around **2 hours 15 minutes**. The station sits on the Touques river, between the two towns, so you can walk to the beach or the harbour. By car, allow roughly **200 km** and 2 to 2.5 hours via the **A13 motorway**; leave outside rush hour, as traffic can be heavy leaving Paris.
Flying in? **Deauville-Normandie airport** is about ten minutes from the town centre; it handles private aviation and, in summer, direct seasonal flights. From the UK, **Brittany Ferries** sails from Portsmouth to Caen-Ouistreham up to three times a day (around 6 to 7 hours), then it’s a short drive along the coast. **WHEN TO VISIT DEAUVILLE-TROUVILLE?**
### In spring
In spring, bright colours and **blooming gardens** are peppered throughout Normandy, offering an idyllic backdrop for relaxing strolls in the soft sea breeze. It’s also festival season: classical music lovers shouldn’t miss the **Festival de Pâques**, held each year from mid-April to early May (from 18 April to 2 May in 2026).
### In summer
Head to Deauville and Trouville in summer to lounge under the **Normandy sun**. Between relaxing on the beach, bathing in the refreshing sea and dining on the terrace, summer is the **perfect season for family holidays** in Normandy. **August** is Deauville at its most glamorous: a month of **racing** at the Deauville-La Touques racecourse (from 2 to 30 August in 2026), the Arqana yearling sales and, in the second half of the month, the **polo** of the Coupe d’Or.
### In autumn
In autumn, as the **temperatures drop** and the **amber leaves** start to fall, Deauville and Trouville shine. Recharge your batteries walking by the sea, or plan a cultural escape around the **Deauville American Film Festival**, held every year in early September (the 2026 edition ran from 4 to 13 September). From mid-October to early January, the **Planches Contact** photography festival takes over Les Franciscaines and the beach.

## **FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT DEAUVILLE AND TROUVILLE**
How do you get from Paris to Deauville?
The easiest way is the direct train from Paris Saint-Lazare to Trouville-Deauville, which takes around 2 hours 15 minutes, and the station is a short walk from both towns. By car, it’s about 200 km, or 2 to 2.5 hours, along the A13 motorway.
When is the best time to visit Deauville?
Summer is high season, and August is Deauville’s most glamorous month, with horse racing almost every other day, the Arqana yearling sales and polo’s Coupe d’Or. Early September brings the Deauville American Film Festival. When is the Deauville American Film Festival?
It takes place every year in early September over ten days, at the Centre International de Deauville and the town’s cinemas. The 2026 edition, its 52nd, ran from 4 to 13 September. Many screenings are open to the public.
What’s the difference between Deauville and Trouville?
They face each other across the Touques river, linked by a short bridge. Deauville is the elegant one: Les Planches, grand Barrière hotels, the casino, racecourse and designer boutiques. Trouville is older and more authentic, with its fishing harbour, fish market, seafood brasseries and narrow lanes once painted by Eugène Boudin. Staying here means enjoying both.
