The best slopes in Meribel

Meribel resort is an integral part of the infamous Les Trois Vallées. Therefore, you are spoiled for choice in the largest ski resort in the world, bringing together Meribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens and of course the fourth, lesser-known, that goes by the name of Orelle. With 600 km of slopes, 300 marked trails, 62, 000 cumulative metres of elevation gain and over 160 ski lifts, it’s impossible to be bored!

Chamois

This large red run has good snow conditions and is often less popular than its famous neighbour, Marmotte’s blue run. Perfect for more experienced skiers who want to have fun and enjoy top speeds without worrying!

This beautiful green run is in the Altiport area, the perfect spot for novices with several blue runs and abundant easy-to-explore green runs. Long part of Altiport’s forest, La Piste des Animaux is dotted with animal sculptures, with information about each of the species. Guaranteed fun with children, no matter their age!

Another of Meribel’s fantastic green runs, peppered with fun games and obstacles, this descent celebrates Inuit way of life. Halfway, you will even discover an Inuit village! It is an unmissable stop for little adventurers in search of the Far North!

Le Couloir

This spectacular black run is located at the summit of the Saulire Express 2. Marked off-piste routes like this are quite rare in Meribel. After fresh snowfall, the locals mark their twists and turns in the powder, admired by all those taking the Saulire lift. At the end of the day, Le Couloir becomes a complex Mogul race, perfect for experienced skiers wanting to test their limits!

Crète and Choucas

To the southwest of Meribel, from the summit of Tougnette, you can take Crète’s fascinating blue run. On the mountainside, the landscapes are magnificent and the gentle turns are fun. Carry on towards Choucas, another easy and entertaining piste, slightly steeper than Crète, but perfect for high-speed carving.

Nestled at the foot of the slopes, within Hôtel Grand Cœur, the restaurant Le Petit Montagnard is renowned for its warm and convivial atmosphere.

The chef Ludovic Escaich offers original and gourmet dishes. 
At midday, come to taste the vast menu of dishes inspired by local ingredients. In the evening, in the soft dim light in the centre of Meribel, the cuisine is more sophisticated for an extraordinary experience.

One day, when you’re skiing down Les Trois Vallées, plan on passing through Belleville Vallée and stopping at La Bouitte, a famous Michelin three-star restaurant that has propelled mountain cuisine to the top of the Michelin guide. In this family establishment, two great chefs are in the kitchen, father and son: René et Maxime Meilleur. Their shared passion for the Alps is ingrained in each of their dishes. Meat, fish, vegetables, aromatic herbs and fresh fruits, all of which are produced in the region!

At Meribel’s Nordic Ranch, try your hand at Ski Joëring, or harnessed skiing, from the stables situated on the green run of La Truite, connecting Meribel Mottaret to the town-centre of the resort. According to nordic tradition, dating back over 2500 years BC, you should put on your skis before being harnessed to a pony that will pull you down the mountain. Originally a genuine means of transport, Ski Joëring is nowadays a national sport in Scandinavia!

In winter

What better season than winter to explore the multitude of activities and slopes in the world’s largest skiing resort? During the high season in Meribel, you can ski every day without taking the same route twice and choose from a multitude of original experiences when your legs need a little rest!

In summer

July and August are perfect to discover another side to Meribel, under the French Alps’ radiant sun. For the summer season, the local bars, restaurants and shops reopen their doors as well as the ski lifts! While the green nature flourishes and the high-altitude landscapes reveal all their beauty, hiking lovers meet to walk or mountain bike together, others to try paragliding, rafting or even canyoning. During sunny days, don’t forget to explore the exceptional Meribel golf course, one of the few 18 holes existing at such high-altitudes!
