The Art of Personalisation with Matt Croucher

The people that surround him have always been what drives chalet manager Matt Croucher towards excellence. A lifelong skier, he was enchanted by the people that he met, and the atmosphere of life in the mountains while working his first ski season. What started as a gap year launched him into his dream career curating the guest experience at ski chalets. Five years later, he brings his passion and excitement to every season, ensuring that the people around him get the best experience possible.

Matt credits the environment of like-minded people as what makes his job so special. He enjoys the dynamic of seasonal workers reuniting, invigorated by the fresh faces of new guests each year.

“The mountains all have a special place in our hearts, so from the get-go you've already found your mutual ground…Reunions in any shape or form are such a special thing, but introducing new faces into the mix just adds to the excitement of it all.”

Matt’s favourite part of the job (and the most important) is tailoring each guest’s experience to their interests and backgrounds. He enjoys meeting new people from all over the world and coming together in a lovely environment. Always going the extra mile to make each stay meaningful, Matt strives to make the chalet feel like a home away from home. Whether that means throwing an après ski party on the snow with custom cocktails and a private DJ or working with the chef to have ingredients brought in from across the world to make traditional dishes from the guests’ home country, Matt ensures that each guest has a deeply personal and memorable stay under his care.

His favourite memory from his time at the chalet is organising an Easter egg hunt for all the guests. The entire chalet team came together to pull it off. The chef created unique easter eggs, the chalet host wrote clues, and the ski pro hiked up the mountain to bury chocolate delights for guests to find. Matt believes that Easter eggs aren’t just for children, and this is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime adventure that he reinvents each season.
