Solar Eclipses have enchanted mankind for centuries, as we search to discover the secrets of its meaning, both scientific, and spiritual. These celestial events are relatively rare, occurring only a few times a year, and only visible to certain parts of the earth. A total solar eclipse only comes around once every 300 to 400 years! These heavenly events are not only beautiful, but they also hold a deep symbolic meaning in the field of astrology. To learn more about what a solar eclipse represents, we sat down with three practised astrologers to learn more about these mystifying phenomena!

Growing up, Jordane was always interested in the stars, but it wasn't until a few years ago that she began studying astrology. To her, it is an art that provides a framework for finding meaning in our daily lives. Like Jordane, Amy was also fascinated by astrology as a child and has spent the past few years devoting her time to understanding the complex world of the zodiac. Natasha, on the other hand, has been working in and teaching astrology for 20 years. She found her start in the field from her mother, who was a practising clairvoyant, and she aspires to use astrology to help people connect with their inner selves. Together, the trio provided us with some illuminating insight into the symbolic meaning behind these awe-inspiring natural wonders.

So, is a solar eclipse an important event from an astrological point of view? If so, why?

Jordane: In astrology, eclipses are known to bring big seasons of change. They represent quick shifts, sudden decisions, endings and new beginnings. They invite us into making the changes necessary in support of our greatest fulfilment and happiness, even if it can feel chaotic in the moment, as change often can.

Amy: Yes! eclipses have always been seen as mystical events. In ancient times, before technology and electricity, eclipses were revered and known to be significant. The astrological knowledge that we have now is based on thousands of years of astronomers and astrologers collecting data. The energy of eclipses is also known to be unstable, they are times when things feel heightened. It’s important to keep this in mind during an eclipse, to be gentle on yourself and others and to know that change is happening with you, but your mind may not fully comprehend just yet. Clarity will come with time.

Natasha: Eclipses can indicate significant turning points, crises or breakthroughs, depending on where they are situated in the zodiac and how they impact an individual’s birth chart. Astrologically, new moons support new beginnings as they align with the start of a new lunar cycle. So a solar eclipse can often bring powerful opportunities for clean breaks and fresh starts. It plants seeds of inspiration that eventually blossom into a fortunate event, game-changing action or an exciting new direction.

Fascinating! When did you see your first solar eclipse, do you remember it well?

Jordane: Eclipses have a somewhat dramatic energy to them, and their appearance is no different! I do remember seeing my first solar eclipse when I was young ... filled with the awe that children bring to everything they first discover. But my favourite has been the opportunity to see an eclipse in an environment with very little to no light pollution.

Amy: The first solar eclipse that I remember seeing was when I was in primary school, I was about six or seven years old. We had special cardboard glasses to wear to protect our eyes while we watched the eclipse. I don’t remember too much but I do remember that it felt eerie, like time stopped for a moment.

Natasha: I remember the first time I saw an eclipse. It was a total solar eclipse, and there was a distinct eeriness when day turned to night. At age seven, wearing my protective glasses, observing this astronomical anomaly was something I’ll never forget – it was pretty magical. It made me realise how connected humans are to our miraculous universe. If you plan to look at the solar eclipse, it’s super important to wear special glasses to protect your eyes!

Thanks for the tip! Can you tell us about the next solar eclipse on 25 October and how it will influence us all?

Jordane: A solar eclipse is a new moon, so the usual themes of this moon phase are present: new beginnings, intentions, and potential. Eclipses, however, magnify this energy while also bringing themes of destiny into it. The decision we make to begin something new may take us into the most aligned and fulfilling opportunity of our lives. A solar eclipse can almost feel like an extra push of energy to make the change that you know has been calling your name, to take the step that has been waiting for you, and to begin the new chapter of your life that you have been dreaming of.

Amy: The 25 October solar eclipse is a south node eclipse in the sign of Scorpio. This eclipse will be catalysing change in us all and inviting us to see where our lives are over-complicated. There is an invitation for us all to lean into more simplicity and ease. The invitation with this eclipse is to remember our innate, inner power and that we are sovereign beings. Our values will be highlighted with this eclipse and it will be offering us an opportunity to evaluate our values, realign and let go of the things behaviours, beliefs and circumstances that no longer align with who we are and our deepest values.

Natasha: Scorpio is the sign of transformation, so we can expect seeds of lasting change to be planted. On a personal note, this eclipse gives you the courage to change what hasn’t been working for you in your life. But because of its unpredictability, I would advise against drawing a hard line in the sand or issuing ultimatums. Eclipses are strongly linked to destiny, so allow change to happen rather than forcing your hand.

That's so interesting, so where do you think is the best spot to watch this solar eclipse?

Jordane
: Anywhere where you feel immersed in nature, with very little light pollution.

Amy: This solar eclipse will be visible for most of Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East and some western parts of Asia. Anywhere outdoors, away from the city and high-rise buildings, where the view is unobstructed.

Natasha: The best place to view October’s solar eclipse is in Russia – where you will see the largest percentage of the sun’s disc in shadow. But France, particularly in the northern regions, also provides excellent viewing.

You've all taken a look at our collection of villas, is there one you would recommend for the best eclipse viewing?

JordaneI think a beautiful way to connect with an eclipse is to be fully present with it, free from distraction, and surrounded by nature. Villa Zatti in Siena, Tuscany feels like a perfect place to be immersed in the solar eclipse energy. With no neighbours and plenty of space outside to see the spectacle, the mountain views and earthy tones are all very in tune!

AmyVilla Dalmatia in Croatia! Those in Croatia should have a nice view of the eclipse, and this villa has lots of great outdoor areas to view the eclipse and no mountains or high buildings that may obstruct the view. From this location, the eclipse will be exact at 11:49 am - just before midday. The terrace on the roof looks like an ideal place to watch the eclipse whilst also taking in some beautiful ocean views!
