The quiet beach of Saint-Cyprien

Calmer than the bays in nearby resort towns, the long sandy beach stretch of Saint-Cyprien has nothing to envy its neighbour, the world famous Palombaggia beach. Its crowds are much more manageable, the 5km half moon beach of fine sand and warm turquoise waters on the gulf of Porto-Vecchio still attracting many discerning holiday-makers.

It is easy to understand its appeal as the beach is without a doubt one of the best on the island. The cove is protected and its nature preserved, lined with the Etangs d’Arasu. A Genoese tower overlooks the water, surrounded by many other historical remains that have been found in the area.

Red granite rocks can be found in certain parts of the water, perfectly complimenting the azure sea. Snorkelling is encouraged to bear witness to all of the beach’s hidden treasures. The beach is suitable for children as its waters are shallow and it benefits from surveillance in the summer.

Located in the heart of the Mediterranean and benefiting from regular winds, the South of Corsica is the ideal playground for water sport fans. Whatever your age, whether you’re beginning or experienced, the Saint-Cyprien beach offers the perfect setup for thrill seekers and an idyllic backdrop.

Wakeboarding and wakesurfing are popular adrenaline-pumping activities that let you experience the sparkling waters at full speed behind a boat. If you are looking for a moment of contemplation of the beautiful surroundings, you can always enjoy stand-up paddling.

Enjoy the proximity to the rugged mountains of the Alta Rocca

Ideally located between the sea and the mountains, Saint-Cyprien offers a beautiful view of the stunning massif of the Alta Rocca. If you wish to take a break from sun lounging, why don’t you go explore the evergreen forests and rocky cliffs on the stunning massif?

There, adventure lovers are spoilt for choice: they can practice hiking, horse riding, climbing and even canyoning in the impossibly rich flora and fauna of the rugged landscape. The iconic Aiguilles de Bavella, ideally located in the Natural Regional Park of Corsica are the plat de résistance: an incredible massif of red granite spikes that welcome hikers of all levels and ages.

Taste typically Corsican wines at the domain of Torraccia

A short drive from Saint-Cyprien, you will find the enchanting Domaine de Torraccia, overlooking the Mediterranean. As vineyards in Corsica go, it is without a doubt the one you cannot miss. Its legendary founder Christian Imbert is the colourful and charismatic ambassador for modern Corsican wine who planted the vineyard at the end of the sixties.

Nowadays, his son Marc overlooks the 43 hectares of vineyards and 25 hectares of olive trees. Wine aficionados will love tasting the domain’s unique wines with a magnificent view of the region. Domain de Torraccia produces a classic red wine with notes of rosemary and spice, a white wine offering depth and freshness with a pear flavour while the Oriu cuvée is a very refined full-bodied rosé.

Le Tiki chez Marco

A local favourite, le Tiki chez Marco is an institution, welcoming its chic clientele for over 50 years. On a private portion of the idyllic beach of Saint-Cyprien, Le Tiki was founded by Marcel Ory and it now under the helm of his children Sandrina and Marco. A refined cuisine is served on teak furniture and under large cream beach umbrellas.

Holiday-makers usually come here for the delicious wood-fired pizzas, seafood salads and traditional Mediterranean dishes. But it is the relaxed and carefree atmosphere that has attracted the most discerning of locals and visitors since the 60s.

Le Cabanon bleu

A rugged footpath or the sea will lead to the Cabanon Bleu, a little piece of heaven on the Saint-Cyprien bay. The unmissable restaurant is a local institution known for its simplicity and authenticity. Its shaded terrace is the perfect backdrop for a lunch overlooking waters of a Caribbean blue. The delicious cuisine of chef Lionel Soulie is composed of fresh local produce from the garden and the region.

There is no signage leading to the institution that is Le Cabanon Bleu so if you’re not yet a regular, finding it might require a little effort.

Le VIP beach

The exclusive VIP Beach, like its name suggests, offers a glamorous atmosphere in an extraordinary natural setting a few meters away from the translucent waters of the sea. In this sought-after paillote, the ambience is trendy yet relaxed and the cuisine takes pride in local seafood with delicious Mediterranean and Corsican recipes.
