When spring settles in and nature blooms in full colour, Comporta is the ideal place to be: the sun shines, the Atlantic Ocean warms up, and crowds are thin. ## **GETTING TO COMPORTA**
Comporta is about **1 hour 15 minutes’ drive from Lisbon** (around 128 km via the A2 and IC33), or you can take the scenic route on the **Setúbal–Tróia ferry**, often escorted by the Sado’s dolphins. Since 1 September 2026, **Rede Expressos coaches** also stop in Comporta, Carvalhal and Melides.
The sweet spots are **May to June** and **late September to early October**: warm, quieter and with fewer mosquitoes. July and August are the liveliest months. Our concierge can arrange every transfer, so that your holiday begins the moment you land.

What is there to do in Comporta?
Spend lazy days on Carvalhal, Pego and Comporta beaches, ride horses through the dunes, cycle between rice fields, and take a boat across the Sado to spot dolphins or swim in the Arrábida coves. Add a visit to the Roman ruins of Tróia, a wine tasting at a local estate and long lunches by the sea.
What is Comporta village like?
It is a small rice-growing village on the Sado estuary, with whitewashed houses and a cluster of concept stores. You will also find restaurants such as Cavalariça and Gomes, and Praia da Comporta is about a 15-minute walk away.
When is the best time to visit Comporta?
May to June and late September to early October: warm, quieter, with fewer mosquitoes. July and August are the liveliest months, and many beach restaurants close from November to spring.
Comporta or Melides?
