In the 1930s, intellectuals, artists and outsiders in search of warmth met on the hedonistic islands of Ibiza and Formentera. It is the islands' freedom and creativity that continues today in the tradition of design and architecture on these two islands.

Discover what makes the style of the "white islands" so special with our three favorite houses in Ibiza and Formentera.

numero 1

The cinematic look

The design of Ibiza and Formentera has that photogenic refinement and that worked on attitude of a screen star - just like its islands, as elegant as they are avant-garde.

One could say that we are on the set of a David Lynch film. With its columns in concrete and its minimalistic lines, the Villa Preciosa 5 blends harmoniously into the wild landscape that surrounds it.

The decor is contemporary - rough walls and polished concrete floor - but the seventies furniture gives the house an artsy, vintage look.

When nightfalls on the plaines, we hop onto a moto, and we ride all the way to the lighthouse before returning to drink a last glass of wine from Cap Barbaria, surrounded by the silence that reigns over the countryside.

numero 2

The familial spirit

With their wild nature and relaxed lifestyle, Formentera and Ibiza are family islands par excellence. The islands invented a style adapted for large groupes: both relaxed and refined at the same time.

Behind its modernistic architecture, Villa Liette is a paradise for children both young and old. Its bohemian universe is made of travel souvenirs, exotic materials and Chinese cages with tart colors.

Every design idea in the house is idle and carefree. In front of the house are two, palm-fringed pools and a Balinese shelter perfect for an afternoon siesta. In the background, we hear only the laughter of children having fun on the giant game of chess.

At lunchtime, fresh herbs are served from the garden. And in the afternoon, we get lost amongst the almond, pomegranate and lemon trees that dot the property.

numero 3

The nomadic soul

A welcoming land open to everyone, Ibiza and Formentera have a nomadic soul. Their style is deeply influenced by the travelers and explorers who have found refuge there.

Behind the facade of a traditional finca, Villa Orchid is a true cabinet of curiosities. Here, one has the impression of entering into the house of a traveling artist or an esthete collector.

In the large living room reminding us of an artist's loft, paintings and photos pile up against the walls. The decoration is made of finds and antiques from around the world.

Here, we live the bohemian life: siestas in the sun and mojitos with our feet in the sand. We stroll amongst the vineyards that surround the house. Then we climb onto the rooftop to watch the sunset embrace the coast.
