New call-to-action

Verbier is a winter paradise for those seeking to carve through the wondrous landscapes of the Swiss Alps. It is a great destination if you are looking to maximise your time on the slopes. With this life-on-skis guide to Verbier's chalets, bars and restaurants, you can experience the full joy of ski-in, ski-out chalets in the 4 Vallées.

It feels almost James Bondesque to arrive at the door of a restaurant or bar with your skis on: gracefully gliding to the restaurant's ski "parking lot", halting at the last second with a delicate flick of the hips and spray of snow before fluidly stepping out of your skis, stacking them on the rack, and removing your sunglasses to survey the clientele basking in the sun on the outdoor deck. Few people could walk away from such an action without feeling unsurpassably slick.

Slide into Après

Verbier ski resort lies in the heart of the 4 Vallées, Switzerland's largest ski area. The extensive range of skiing (up to 412kms of pistes) and the lively après-ski scene makes for a vibrant and thoroughly enjoyable destination for the young and the young at heart. After a matutinal session of shredding the fresh snow and a heartwarming lunch on the slopes, head to one of the bopping bars to dance in the Alpine elements, come snow or shine.

Le Rouge

There are few places that host a boot-strapped après as well as Le Rouge does. Each day, at around 3pm, a rainbow of ski attires, donned by people looking for a fun way to bring a day of skiing to a close, flock to the terraces of Le Rouge. The self-described "Ibiza in the snow" will see groovy tunes and smiling people usher in the evening while the majestic peaks become great silhouettes against the darkening sky.

The upstairs bar and two terraces bear witness to a surreal backdrop; it is a place for revellers to indulge in the pleasures of a party atmosphere that is so unique to skiing holidays. Stomp your boot-laden feet to the music's beat as heavy snow weightlessly dances down between the merriment of après.

1936 Bar

The ski-in, ski-out 1936 Bar is an epic last stop before the station. The two yurts that comprise this bar create a welcoming wintery aura, and is a great place to rest weary legs whilst watching live music or dance with a crisp, hard-earned drink in hand after a thrilling day of venturing the vast ski area.

Ski the short distance back down to the station along the easy-going pistes as the town below begins to glow with the warmth of a winter wonderland: a snapshot that seems to be captured in a snow globe

Ice Cube

Ice Cube is a fun pocket-sized place to ski in for a scenic drink and a snack; it is a place where you can lap up the scenery whilst quenching a thirst induced by ploughing through fresh powder on Verbier's intrepid off-piste. The balcony teeters on the edge of a slope, gazing over the deep valley below, across from the impressive peaks that coalesce into a jagged-topped wall.

The ski-in, ski-out bar and restaurant sits at 2200m at the summit of the Ruinette gondola. Its breathtaking views make it one of Verbier's best and most unique après bars, but be careful not to indulge too heavily before skiing down!

Dine in style

There is nothing as wholesome and warming as an Alpine feast after a morning or day of racing, bouncing and swerving, slicing and weaving across the well-groomed pistes and marshmallowy off pistes of the snowy mountainside. Eating at one of these excellent restaurants will give you the sustenance you need to make the most of the rest of your day's skiing by filling those gaps left by the exhilaration of the 4 Vallées.
